MODERN IN THE CITY

The Chouteau house is a departure from the brick and stone construction that we find throughout the City of St. Louis. By using dark exteriors with warm cedar accents we hope to amplify modern architecture by making hard lines and angles even sharper. It also breathes new life to a neighborhood that is in need of a break from the red hues of century old brick constructions. This is a three bedroom house, two and a half bath, with a two car garage and roof patio from an interior stairway. From their elevated patio one can see the city from a new perspective, as a skyline, as a horizon. When we obligate architecture to find new perspectives to our city perhaps we will inform contemporary design as well.
